Wyreside Lakes Rules and Regulations |

Will readers please note: most of the following rules apply to all anglers at Wyreside Lakes - however some rules & regulations are for season ticket members only.
1. All anglers must sign in on arrival and remember to disinfect their fishing tackle before entering the Fishery.
2. Barbed Hooks only. No ‘nuts’ or ‘pellets’ of any kind to be used. Only pellets purchased on the fishery can be used – these are non-oil based.
3. ‘Sensible’ rigs must be used, and in the event of line breakage the ‘lead’ must be able to free itself from the rest of the terminal tackle easily.
4. Swimming and tree climbing are strictly forbidden.
5. No leaders of any kind or lead core of any kind to be used. Braid can be used (marker rods and spod rods).
6. Main line only. This must be a minimum of 15 lb. breaking strain.
7. All members must observe a 3 rod limit at all times. No rods may be left unattended with lines cast in or with baited hooks, this includes marker floats. Anglers must hold the appropriate E A licenses.
8. No remote controlled bait boats or floating aids to be used for baiting swims. The fishery boats are to be used for the release of snagged fish only.
9. All fish, of any kind, must be returned to the Lakes as quickly as possible after being caught. It is a condition that all anglers have proper unhooking mats for the weighing of fish. Fish can be sacked for a minimum amount of time for photography purposes only.
10. Members are permitted to fish for 48 hours in any one week - 1 week is based from Monday – Sunday. Each individual angler is allocated 2 weeks holiday per year, however this must be booked in advance. Individual days cannot be booked.
11. Banton’s water is available to non members 12 months a year (7 days a week) at a maximum of 6 non-members at any one time. These must be pre-booked. Wyre Lake is open Monday 8am to Friday 8am with a maximum of 6 non members at any one time. These must be pre-booked.
12. Swim monopolizing between season ticket holders is not allowed.
13. All anglers fish on Wyreside Lakes at their own risk.
14. All visitors to season ticket holders must report into reception before entering onto the property. Visitors are not allowed to drive around the fishery and must park in the main car park adjacent to the security barrier. They must also pay the appropriate parking fee and display the ticket in their vehicle window.
15. Anglers must behave responsibly with regards to the intake of alcohol when fishing on the lakes. We uphold a ZERO TOLERANCE TO DRUGS policy and we are in direct contact with Lancaster police.
16. Members are allowed 1 spectator only. Your guest must be signed in & a camping fee must be paid at reception-£3.50 per night for adults & £3.00 per night for children under 12- this is to cover the usage of amenities such as the toilets & showers. Any other friends or relatives who wish to stay must do so in the camping field or any of the other accommodation at Wyreside Lakes. All anglers are allowed a maximum of 2 visitors at any one time. All visitors must report into reception and sign in, stating their reason for visiting and they must purchase a car parking pass.
17. No rods may be left unattended with lines cast in or with baited hooks.
18. Access to the Lakes with vehicles is via the gravel track. All vehicles on the Fishery must abide by the 10 mph speed limit. Cars must be parked in the designated parking areas. Vehicles must not be parked alongside or at the back of the swims unless parking spaces are allocated (pegs 1-5 Bantons lake only) under no circumstances should vehicles be driven around the lakes or on any grassed areas.
19. Anglers should note that the Fishery will be secured at night. The fishery opening times are from 7am till 7pm (March - October). 8am till 5pm (November -February). The main gate will be locked at 10.30pm and re-opened at the above scheduled times.
20. The security barrier is manned until 10pm in the summer months and 5pm in the winter months. All anglers must report their catch status to a member of staff in reception on leaving and the barrier will be raised. Members are not allowed to raise the barrier themselves from reception.
21. No fires or loud CD players / radios are permitted. 1 dog per angler is permitted - dogs must be on a lead and dog foul must be cleared up. Any member not adhering to this rule will not be allowed to bring their dog.
22. All litter, including discarded lines, hooks and baits must be taken when leaving the Fishery. There is a bin area in front of the permit office.
23. There will be no day visitors permitted after dark – (pre booked overnight guests are still admitted) this is a new rule for 2010 and is not negotiable. Please remember to inform any day visitors that you may have that they must park in the top car park and walk to your swim. You are responsible for any guests at the fishery and any unacceptable behaviour will impact on your membership.
24. No weapons of any kind may be taken onto the Fishery.
25. If you have a fishing dispute with any other angler which cannot be reasonably settled, please call reception on 01524 792093 and ask for bailiff assistance.
26. We reserve the right to close the lake by advance notice for purposes of holding competitions etc. The number of occasions will however be kept to a minimum.
27. All anglers must abide by the fishery rules. Depending on the nature of the offence committed the management reserve the right to issue a warning for a minor offence. Offences of a serious nature will result in the immediate retraction of your season ticket (without refund).
28. Please ensure that you keep all your fishing tackle and equipment within eyesight. Any equipment not being used should be packed down and stored in your car or bivvy. Thieves do operate in this area (as commonly found in and around most fisheries) although we have CCTV cameras, a barrier and the main entrance gate; there are several other access points around the fishery and public rights of way which are impossible to monitor 24hrs a day.
29. Will all anglers please note that the fishery is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
30. Pike Fishing. We have pike fishing on Wyre, Bantons, Sunny 1 & Sunny 2. Pike anglers are allowed to use a maximum of 4 rods - members must only use 3 unless paying for an extra rod. The barbed hook rule still applies. We allow spinning and deadbaits only. Sea and Freshwater baits can be used. You must bring your own bait - we do not allow our own freshwater stock to be used.
31. A note for members only - Please note:- Bantons and Wyre lakes are not syndicated waters - they are membership waters which entitle you to a greatly reduced price of fishing on two of the Northwest's specimen carp waters. Although we do appreciate (and value) any input or comments from our fishery members - members do not have any constitutional rights to how the lakes / or fishery business is conducted.
32. We reserve the right to alter any of the fishery rules and regulations at any time should it be necessary to do so.
