We are continually upgrading our facilities here at Wyreside to be better equipped for cyclists and walkers, including hikes, treks and pleasure walking, birdwatchers and people who generally enjoy nature and the outdoors. We have also opened up certain areas of our land (over 120 acres) for horses and we will hopefully be included in the Wyre Tourism Initiative - 'The Mary Townley Loop' which is a circular bridleway spanning Lancashire and the Forrest of Bowland. We charge £5 per day for a car / trailer /horse box
We already have a secure drying room area in our Bed and Breakfast and Scandinavian lodge accommodation and we will have a bike rack, boot racks and scrapers outside the main building. There are lockable storage areas for bikes for guests who wish to stay overnight with us.

At reception we have a list of walks (circular and straight) in the local area and in Lancashire and Bowland. Our chefs have designed a special 'light lunch' menu and packed lunches are also available. You can leave from Wyreside lakes or you can drive to any starting point within a short distance and try many of the circular walks in this area. Bird watching is a pastime supported by many and here in Lancashire we are blessed with many different species of birds and wildlife- Just after Easter 08' two Osprey were sighted over the caravan park. The Forest of Bowland AONB and Arnside & Silverdale AONB are nationally protected landscapes and very important for their moorland, blanket bogs and rare birds. These areas are easily accessible and are only 20 minutes from Wyreside (by car). There is also Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve and the Wildfowl & Wetland Trust at Martin Mere.
With superb countryside, attractive routes and rugged moorland, you will find that Lancashire is a great place for cycling. Head west for a more costal ride, where you will find a network of rural lanes linking attractive villages. To the east the countryside becomes more rugged, as you climb up to the Bowland and Pennine Hills. You could try Dunsop Bridge for a great family fun bike ride or Gisburn Forest for woodland trails and off-road excitement. The lancashire cycleway (90) passes near to our entrance - this is a challenging 280 mile cycle tour of the country which offers some outstanding countryside, (including the Bowland hills) and has some steep hills but fantastic decents! Off route is the national cycle route 6 which goes between Lancaster & Preston. We can offer a welcome stop to cyclists with a light meal and refreshments to refuel those legs - we even have a campsite with a modern shower block on site for a quick refreshing overnight stop. We have access to Local cycle maps (hard copies and via the internet. Bike hire is also available from Budgie Bikes of Lancaster. We also have bridleway guides and you can park your horse boxes in our carpark for a small charge per day and venture out from here!
