Wyreside Lakes Access Statement This access statement is intended to provide additional information for all our visitors. Recognition has been given to include visitors with an impairment, which could include mobility, sight, hearing, learning disabilities or any other hidden impairment. We aim to ensure that all our visitors have comfortable and suitable facilities, that all requests are dealt with efficiently and that our visitors feel welcome throughout their time with us. We request that anyone wishing to make an enquiry or book in advance of their arrival, inform us of any special needs or disabilities that they may have in order for us to meet any personal requirements.
Parking Charges: There are no parking charges enforced for fishing, accommodation, restaurant or tour group customers. We do however charge any for any visitors (not using the aforementioned) arriving by car at a rate of £1 per car per day. This charge is to cover toilet usage (as we are not on farmland and have septic tanks) and also the employment of staff for litter picking and dog fouling and the general upkeep of the walkways and surrounding land. Pre-arrival: If you would like to be greeted on arrival, you can contact us by telephone or email -our contact details are above. Lancaster Train station is approx 15 minutes away by taxi. Preston Train station is approx 30 minutes away by taxi. Unfortunately there are no direct bus routes to Wyreside Lakes. There are many local taxi firms we can book on your behalf if required. Arrival and car parking facilities: There are approx 30 parking spaces, however none of these are line marked on the ground– if you require close parking, please come into reception and we will allocate parking for you adjacent to the main building. The car park surface is stone-chippings. All our entrance doorways, internal doors and walkways are all of DRC standard and we have a ramp for access into the main bar / entertainment area.
Main Entrance / Reception / Public areas – WC: Our main entrance leads directly to Reception, the on site shop, the laundry and all toilet and shower facilities including the disabled toilet / shower room. All door widths are a minimum of 91cm and cover all DRC / Fire regulation requirements. No induction loops are currently fitted. No lowered service desk for wheelchair access Clip board available as an alternative
Fisherman’s Restaurant / Function Junction entertainment Bar: Moveable seats throughout. Waiter service is available on request. Minimum table clearance height 70cm, various width tables from 60cm – 76cm Door width 91cm Menus in large print available on request
Outside Pergola: Open outside area. The area around the outside of the courtyard is a mixture of concrete and stone chippings. Outside seating area available – these tables are not suitable for wheelchair access. A suitable table can be provided on request.
Camping areas: There are several camping paddocks around the main property. All have road access for driving however in the field areas you will be crossing grass and not designated roadways. You are able to park on your pitch next to your unit, this however is weather dependant. If the field areas are too wet we will endeavour to find a suitable hard standing area where you will be able to have immediate parking access. If this is not possible we can use our farm equipment (quad bikes / tractor) to deliver your unit and contents / accessories to your grass pitch – you will then be required to park in the main parking area.
The Fishery: The fishery is accessible by a single track roadway. Each lake has its own designated car park (they are made from stone chippings and not ground line marked) and on the following lakes / you can park directly behind your swim for access: Sunnyside 1: Roadside Pegs 9, 10, 11 & 12. Sunnyside 2: Roadside Pegs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9. River Lake: Roadside Pegs 1, 2 & 3. Banton’s Lake: Roadside Pegs 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. On Sunnyside 1 (on the back bank) there is also a disabled ramp and jetty where fishing can be accessed and this is between swims 4 & 5. We can help deliver your equipment directly to your swim in a trailer attached to the quad bike – please enquire at reception to book this facility. We also deliver food to the swims (via quad bike) - we have 2 services, one at 9am for breakfast and one at 5pm for evening meal – please enquire at reception for futher details.
Allergies / Dietary requirements: All our food is prepared on-site in our kitchen. There are traces of nuts in some of our main meals, cakes and desserts, however, we can cater for dietary / allergy requirements on request.
General information: Telephone numbers available for local hospitals. First Aiders on site. Risk assessment available on request. The fire alarm is a continuous bell and staff will advise you of our emergency procedures if required.
Disability Discrimination Access Statement People who are blind or partially sighted: Assisted dogs are welcome in the premises. The facility does not provide blankets, bowls, and dog baskets. Staff are requested to assist guests by stating what food and drinks are available. Large print menus are available on request.
People who are deaf or hard of hearing: There will be writing materials available at all times for help with communications. Our staff members are not able at this time to converse in sign language. We do not have a hearing loop installed at this time.
Disabled people in general: There are approx 30 parking spaces There is a designated disabled toilet and bathroom on site. Dietary requirements will be willingly provided for. Prior notice is required. All dietary requirements are requested before arrival. Speak to our staff about your needs. There is a notice on our web site that states that we are not fully accessible and have limited facilities. All staff are instructed that it is unlawful not to serve or discriminate against disabled persons. Staff are trained to act in a helpful and thoughtful manner. Staff will serve customers at their table if they cannot get to the counter to order. We help all our customers by taking drinks / food to their table. Our staff are trained to give any assistance necessary to enable hard of hearing to order food and drink. Writing pads are available for writing down orders and staff are required to read out menus to those guests who may have difficulty hearing.
